Nick Herbert – Psychedelics & Consciousness
Nick Herbert (Physicist-Author): American physicist, best known for his book “Quantum Reality”. After receiving his Ph.D. in Physics from Stanford University, Herbert took on several posts, in both the academia and industry, the most illustrious of which was senior physicist at Memorex Corp., where developed new magnetic materials, as well as magnetic, electrostatic and optical measuring devices, plus theoretical work on Lorenz microscopy. He was also senior physicist at SCM where he deveoped a new theory of xerographic process. He also held faculty position at Monmouth, Illinois, where he was assistant professor of physics at Monmouth College. Here, Nick Herbert discusses psychedelics and consciousness in an interview with Andrew Rutajit.

“Psychedelic drugs is not for recreation, they may teach you things about yourself that might not want to know.” I don’t necessarily disagree with him, provided that he is using “recreation” in the sense that people drink alcohol on a saturday night.
Personally, I take psychedelics about 4-5 times per year AS a recreation. I enjoy finding out things about myself, even the unpleasant ones.

@amusingisthedawn You should compare them by the fact, that uranium and plutonium is NOT illegal and far more dangerous to mankind and any other pecies on this planet than these plants. So you should ask those questions, because there are indeed insane ideas, but they are unquestioned ideas accepted by our society. How sane is this?

He seems like a nice man! Do you think a greater understanding of the dynamics of light and time could explain the paradoxes of quantum mechanics without consciousness coming into the equation? The conscious idea leads to Physical action that collapses the wave function.

So utterly wrong. Does a City have a “Citier”? No of course not. No one person ever creates a whole city. People might plan things but much like the brain a City grows, and evolves.
Carl Sagan is a moron. He’s saying that it is complex and is capable of alot of things – but yet at the same time he thinks that it somehow “evolved” out of mud, rocks, dust, etc.
Complexity demands a creator. A creation has a creator.
